Partnerships for SuccessMVI is committed to being an effective partner in the crucial effort to find a way to immunize children against malaria. Partnerships are critical to the malaria vaccine effort. As an example, dozens of antigens that could be evaluated as candidate malaria vaccines have been identified over the past decades by a variety of investigators. Most of these antigens are patented and being developed individually. The malaria vaccine field believes that a successful malaria vaccine will require the inclusion of several antigens, probably from different stages of the parasite's life cycle. Partnerships to bring different antigens, technologies, adjuvants, and platforms together are thus essential. In addition, many ongoing malaria vaccine efforts have existed in struggling, sparingly funded laboratories in industry, academia, and government. Many are pursuing scientifically valid strategies, but lack of adequate funding has made progress painfully slow. MVI, created to remove roadblocks and bring the various participants/parties/players together, has surveyed the field and is working hard to build alliances that will accelerate development efforts. |
