This event will highlight conclusions from a new assessment of malaria research and development (R&D) funding, which finds that a four‐fold increase in malaria R&D investments over the last 16 years has generated the strongest pipeline of malaria products ever available, contributing to a 20 percent decrease in malaria deaths worldwide over the last decade.

However, nearly 800,000 people – most of them young children in sub‐Saharan Africa – continue to die each year from this disease. Hear the author of the report, in‐ country researchers, and experts in the global health field explain the importance of maintaining this momentum, and what it will take to ensure this R&D renaissance continues.
